What a wonderful time of year to pair crochet hearts with just about anything! So, I definitely wanted to crochet a bikini bottom with some fun and festive hearts! This pattern is pretty simple and good for an advanced beginner crocheter and above. I used an F – Hook, 3.75 mm Hook, and used a medium weight 4 yarn. This particular yarn is Yarn Bee Secret Soft in the color Hot Pink.

We begin by crocheting a two round heart which is the larger heart in the back of the thong bikini. Next, we crochet a chain and then begin increasing as we move towards the front of the bikini. Once the front is completed, we begin crocheting the simple border that is comprised of single crochets.

Finally, we crochet the ties which was a lot of fun. We start off by crocheting the same heart, but only the first round. Then we make our chain stitches according to size, secure the chain to the back or front of the bikini, and finally finish off with crocheting the second side of the chain with a heart at the bottom. Crocheting the second heart of one ties was a little bit tricky, but you can refer to the video if it’s not too clear. We start with the chain 4 first, and then create the chain 3/slip stitch for crocheting in the round. Next, we slip stitch up the chain 4 and turn.

Foundation: chain 3 and sl st into 1st chain space or create magic ring.

Row 1: Chain 4 (counts as dtc), working into ring, 3 dc, 2 dtc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sl st (middle stitch) , 1 hdc, 1 dc, 2 dtc, 3 dc, sl st in 4th chain of chain 4.

Row 2: Chain 4 (count as dtc), dc in same stitch as sl st, 2 dc in next 3 stitches, 2 dtc in next 2 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch, sl st in next stitch (sc from previous round), 1 sc in next stitch, 1 hdc in same stitch, 2 dc in next stitch, 2 dtc in next 2 stitches, 2 dc in next 3 stitches,  1 dc in same stitch as sl st, sl st in 4th chain of chain 4.

Row 3:  Chain 22 (24, 28, 32, 36, 40) .

Row 4: Chain 2 (counts as dc), 2 dc in 3nd chain from hook.  In total,  3 dc.

Row 4: Chain 1, turn, 1 dc in every stitch across.  In total, 3 dc. 

Row 5: Chain 1,  turn, 2 dc in first stitch, 1 dc in next stitch, 2 dc in last stitch. In total, 5 dc. 

Row 6: Chain 1, turn, 1 dc in every stitch across. In total,  5 dc.

*Repeat row 6 once more.

Row 8: Chain 1, turn, 2 dc in first stitch,  1 dc in next 3 stitches,  2 dc in last stitch.  In total,  7 dc.

Row 9: Chain 1, turn,  1 dc in every stitch across.  In total, 7 dc.

***Repeat row 9 for the next 3 (4, 5, 6, 7, 8) rows.

Row 13 (14, 15, 16, 17, 18): Chain 1 turn,  2 dc in first stitch,  1 dc in every stitch across until 1 stitch left, 2 dc in last stitch. In total,  9 dc.

***Repeat row 13 (14, 15, 16, 17, 18) until there are 27 (29, 31, 33, 35, 37) stitches in the row,  until row 22 (24, 26, 28, 30, 32) is complete, DO NOT TIE OFF. 

Border 

Chain 1, working along front side of garment, create sc border by placing 3 sc in corner stitch, (if front side calls for you to work along the top front of the bikini before working along the side of rows, do so first instead of last) 2 sc in the side of every dc row,  1 sc in every chain stitch, 1 sc in every stitch of the heart until you reach the sl st (the center top of heart), sl st in sl st, 1 sc in every stitch of heart, 1 sc in every chain stitch, 2 sc in side of every dc row, 3 sc in corner stitch, 1 sc in every stitch along top of front of bikini, sl st in sc, cut and tie off. 

Ties

(Back) Chain 3 and sl st into 1st chain space or create magic ring, chain 4 (counts as dtc), working into ring, 3 dc, 2 dtc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sl st (middle stitch) , 1 hdc, 1 dc, 2 dtc, 3 dc, sl st in 4th chain of chain 4, chain 120 (125, 130, 135, 140, 150), sl st to back of heart around a stitch from row 1 just right of the center sl st, sl st to sl st (top middle stitch of heart in row 1), sl st to next stitch in row 1 to the left of the center sl st of row 1, chain 120 (125, 130, 135, 140, 150), chain 4 (counts as dtc, chain 3 and sl st into first chain of chain 3 to create ring, turn to sl st along the chain 4 so that working yarn is at the top of the chain 4, working into ring, 3 dc, 2 dtc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sl st (middle stitch) , 1 hdc, 1 dc, 2 dtc, 3 dc, sl st in 4th chain of chain 4, cut and tie off.
